Breathe California of Los Angeles

donate-bannerOn behalf of those we serve with debilitating lung disease and our Volunteer Board, I would like to thank you for your support. The need for our services in the Los Angeles County area continues to grow more critical each and every year.

As COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) has been designated as the third highest cause of death in the United States by the CDC, your support will allow us to implement COPD programs to help promote early detection and allow for a higher quality of life for those who live with COPD.1 Some of these programs include Adult Lung Health outreach in the Boyle Heights area providing health screenings to hundreds of at risk families. We also have Better Breather Clubs™ established in parts of Los Angeles to help seniors cope with COPD and other lung diseases.

Last year 129,000 (52%) of children with asthma created 1.2 million absences which lead to missed learning opportunities and reduced school funding.2 Our O24U program helps over 8,000 students a year understand how to manage environmental triggers to reduce asthma attacks. While BREATHE LA is doing great work, there are more people that need our help.

We view your generous gift as a first step in a long and prosperous partnership for years to come. We are grateful you are joining us on our mission to promote clean air and healthy lungs through research, education, advocacy and technology.

Planning for the future:Many people set aside financial assets for the ones they love and the causes they support. Here are a few ways to develop a planned gift with BREATHE LA:

  • Planned (testamentary) Gifts: For planned (testamentary) gifts, donors set up a bequest when they work with their attorneys or legal advisors to draft their wills.
  • Life Insurance – Life insurance is a wonderful yet often overlooked tool for making a gift. A gift can be set up by a donor, selecting BREATHE LA as a beneficiary of all or a portion of the policy’s proceeds.
  • Retirement Plans – Individuals with a retirement plan, whether through their employer or their own Individual Retirement Account (IRA) or 401(k)s, 403(b)s and pension plans, can ordinarily select BREATHE LA as a beneficiary of the remaining balance. These gifts are arranged by donors contacting the administrator of their plans.
  • Financial Service Products – Stock, certificates of deposit, or other accounts at a bank or financial institution. Donors can select BREATHE LA as the beneficiary of these accounts through a payable-on-death provision.

To set up a time to discuss about all of your planned gift options please speak to our  President & CEO at or 323 935 8050 – 235
