BREATHE LA Charity Skydive, held April 26th at Skydive Elsinore, raised nearly $10,000 for O24U Environmental Education Program for "kids who care about clean air."O24U empowers school children to take a leading role in the clean air future of Los Angeles. The funds will be used for workbooks and activities materials for over 4,000 children in 53 schools who enjoy a ten-week fun, hands-on learning experience. BREATHE LA works to raise awareness about clean air issues and to ensure future generations are equipped to protect the environment. BREATHE LA O24U is funded by LA5 Rotary Foundation, the KTLA-TV McCormick Tribune Foundation and Boeing Employee Giving grants, individual donors and special events like the Charity Skydive.

The Charity Skydive is new on the fundraising landscape, allowing adventurous donors a unique fundraising incentive. Donors log on to register for a 'free' tandem skydive and choose a charity to fundraise for. BREATHE LA Charity Skydive participants each raised a minimum of $500 to earn their skydive.

Sponsors included: Whole Life Times, Clear Channel Radio, First California Bank, Adventure 16, the North Face, GoGreenPromos.com, and iFLY Hollywood

Divers included : Lisa Paris, Brad Scoular, Agatha Kulesza, Ellie Hill & Kevin Reese, Colleen McDonough, Darya Danesh & Evelina Giang of Whole Life Times, Julia Robinson Shimizu & Lizzy Beach of BREATHE LA.

Supporters included : BREATHE LA Board Members Eileen James, & Cynthia Carter, who attended with a dozen friends and family of the jumpers, for moral support and encouragement. Others who donated to support the event included BREATHE LA Board Members including Michael Arlen, Robert Berliner, Robert Duitsman, Eugene Port, BREATHE LA staff and countless friends.

Each year, more people die from illnesses related to air pollution than from skydiving. Skydiving from an airplane,

Skydiving from an airplane, right? How is that helping to make the LA air cleaner and easier to breathe with all the pollution that's emitted from the airplane?

Cool to see loads of people doign stuff like this for charity. I did a massive Abseil for charity in the UK last year and raised the equivelent of about $500 with little effort! Good luck to everyone thats participating!
