Hydrogen Day at the California Science Center
BREATHE LA cheered as participants of Hydrogen Road Tour crossed the finish line at Exposition Park.The tour showcased clean, efficient hydrogen-powered vehicles from eight different auto manufacturers in a cross-country trek that started in Portland, Maine on August 11, 2008 and ended at noon August 23rd at Exposition Park in Los Angeles.
BREATHE LA provided an environmental education activity for children attending the Hydrogen Road Tour's final event,
Hydrogen Day at the California Science Center. Parents were able to sign on to test drive hydrogen-powered fuel cell vehicles and view other hydrogen combusting vehicles, including two hydrogen-powered buses, on display. Families enjoyed BREATHE LA O24U table and other interactive demonstrations about hydrogen as an alternative to conventional fuels which provided a fast-forward look at a clean air future for Los Angeles.
The day-long event hosted by the California Fuel Cell Partnership and Hydrogen Road Tour included
- Test drives (or rides in) clean, efficient hydrogen-powered vehicles
- Demonstrations of fuel cells, hydrogen production and fueling
- Opportunities to learn how government and industry are working together to bring this technology to California's roads
- Opportunities to explore the Transportation Gallery at the California Science Center and find out what it takes to turn fuel into motion
- Fun, interactive O24U environmental education display
- Opportunties to see BREATHE LA 4-U-N-I Teen Quit Smoking videos as a part of the BodyWorlds3 exhibit and to make a commitment to quit smoking! After all, clean air and healthy lungs means more than just clean vehicles, personal commitment to healthful living and environmental responsibility is an important part of our our clean air future.
