Emotional Support

Living with any serious disease can be challenging. The physical and medical
challenges

are only a small part. If you or someone you love has been diagnosed with

a serious lung disease such as cancer or COPD, there are a long list of

emotions, worries and practical concerns that add to the challenge.

Coping with the emotional burdens and practical concerns of serious

disease can seem an overwhelming task and is commonly included

in a patient's treatment plan. Your health care providers can become an important

core of your team that can also include support groups,

patient-to-patient networks, and other information sources and emotional supports

that can help you work through the fear and uncertainty related to the illness.

Emotional support can improve the quality of life for you and for your loved ones.

Cancer support groups allow patients to talk openly about living with cancer

in a safe environment where others living through similar experiences can offer support and

advice.

If you need help finding a support group, let us know.
