David J. Pierson MD Named Sam Sills Distinguished Scholar 2008
Breathe California of Los Angeles County (BREATHE LA) in collaboration with The Trudeau Society of Los Angeles presents the 37th annual Dr. Samuel J. Sills Distinguished Scholar Program Award to David J. Pierson, M.D. on Thursday May 01, 2008. Each year, a deserving honoree is selected from outstanding individuals in the field of pulmonary medicine to receive the award, including title of visiting professor. The honored guest visits local medical facilities and lecture on the progress of pulmonary treatment and research.
The Samuel J. Sills Distinguishing Scholar Program honorarium was established in 1971 by Dr. Sills’ children, Robert Sills and Susan Casamassima, as a tribute to their father’s years of dedication and love of education, heath care and research in the field of pulmonary medicine.
David J. Pierson, M.D.
David J. Pierson, M.D. is the 2008 Sam Sills Distinguished Scholar. Dr.Pierson is Professor of Medicine, Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine, Harborview Medical Center University of Washington School of Medicine, Seattle, Washington. Dr. Pierson is a renowned researcher in pulmonary medicine, former editor of Respiratory Care and author of over 300 journal articles, chapters and other scholarly works. In addition to his academic work training pulmonologists of the future, Dr. Pierson’s specialty is writing, editing and publishing in clinical medicine.
