Walking our Talk

Thank you for this important invitation. In the interest of "walking our talk," "practicing what we preach," reducing air pollution and global green house gas, etc., P L E A S E, in your future notices of any kind, include transit instructions FIRST, and do not provide free parking under any circumstances. At a minimum, if there is free parking available at the venue, install a staff person or volunteer, and use parking as a fund raiser at market rates or a minimum of $10. You know it really sends the wrong message to ask people "to do everything we can to address the problem of global warming at every level of government..." and then provide free parking! Thank you for taking this very seriously and passing it along to other government representatives. I am copying the Mayor's office, as I have done before on these types of notices. I urge you to request that the Mayor give notice to all city agencies that hold public meetings of any kind to encourage the use of bikes and public transit, and to no longer provide parking directions, and require market rates for use of any city owned parking amenities. Thank you for your attention to this critical matter. Lois Arkin ************************************ Lois Arkin, Executive Director CRSP Institute for Urban Ecovillages at Los Angeles Eco-Village
