What is BREATHE LA's Youth Advocacy Board (YAB)?

YAB is an opportunity for student participants to share their thoughts and opinions on how they and their communities are affected by air quality, tobacco and nicotine, asthma, and access to healthy food. Through their involvement with YAB, students will gain confidence to advocate for healthier, equitable community resources.

Why join YAB?

Develop leadership skills, professionalism, critical thinking, and improved communication and teamwork skills

Share your thoughts and opinions on the needs of your communities

Complete an advocacy project that represents the impact the issue has on your community

Develop a critical advocacy skillset in gaining confidence to become actively involved in decision-making processes for you and you communities

Gain responsibility for determining YAB priorities

Requirements to Apply

Students must meet the following criteria:

Nomination by an afterschool program Facilitator

Complete an online application (link to form below)

Ability to attend at least (3) of (4) meetings
